I'm a day late this week with the Wednesday Blog post—thank you for bearing with me as I took a moment to celebrate another year of life. This birthday week has been a time of joy mixed with reflection, especially as we explore this week's poignant theme: grief.

As we continue our 14-week countdown to the pre-launch of "Inside the Invisible Box: My Journey from Mars to a Rising Phoenix," this week's excerpt dives deep into the theme of grief, a subject close to many of our hearts.

📖 Excerpt of the Week:

"In the hushed moments that followed, I remained tucked beneath the weighty blanket, propped up by my elbows. With bated breath, I strained to distinguish the slightest whisper of movement. Anticipation swelled, awaiting the familiar cadence of his footsteps resonating through the house, leading him to the kitchen. To me, this would mean that he wasn’t dead. Yet the air grew stagnant. His presence was gone, never to be seen again."

This passage captures the silence and stagnation that often accompanies the realization of loss. The quiet waiting and the eventual acceptance of absence can be some of the most painful moments to endure.

In the Black community, the impact of grief on children is profound, often compounded by collective trauma from current events, violence, or systemic inequities. This compounded grief is underrepresented in broader grief research, making it even more critical to shed light on these experiences.
